2nd Grade Bike Safety

In April, Communities In Schools of Ottawa sponsored the 2nd grade Bike Safety Program. We are so grateful to our community partners for making this event possible. Our 2nd graders were taught the rules of the road by Det Rick Geist and CSO Larabe Alexander. Nick Robbins and Cindy Casey from EMS taught the kids the importance of safety when riding and wearing their helmets. We were also able to give each 2nd grader a bicycle helmet thanks to a grant from the Kansas Health Foundation. Each child received a license to peddle that Keith King from State Farm Insurance provided, and he was generous enough to arrange for his “Good Neigh Bear” to attend the event. We would also like to thank Walmart for donating four bicycles that we were able to give away to children who did not have bikes of their own.
