Reach for the Stars 4th Grade Architecture Unit Christmas Display

This year the 4th graders in the Reach for the Stars Architecture Unit have been busy learning about and creating minature homes.

The children use math and science skills to create this hands on project.

The children are informed about architecture and told how to use graphing paper and create blueprints.  They then use their own math skills to correctly measure out the house walls, roofing and windows.

They then used their science skills to determine the best consistency of frosting that they need to use to keep the candy on the houses. The children are only told that they need to use egg whites, powder sugar and cream of tarter, the children come up with their own measurements and recipe for the icing.

Once they are done with their math and science projects to create the best winter home, they then build their houses.

The children will also be working on creating rooms and will be making shadow boxes of a room of their choice in the next few weeks.

The children have done an exceptional job this year!
