Communities In Schools of Ottawa

Communities In Schools stands in the gap between at-risk students and graduation. We are the largest dropout prevention organization in the country. We are committed to providing the resources and connections necessary for our students to focus on learning first. We are dedicated to providing children with five basics:

*             A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult

*             A safe place to learn and grow

*             A healthy start and a healthy future

*             A marketable skill to use upon graduation

*             A chance to give back to community and peers

Our local branch of Communities In Schools is only three years old but we’ve been very busy! We have worked hard to advance our mission by championing the connection of needed community resources with schools to help young people successfully learn, stay in school, and prepare for life. Through our programs, we have seen many lives changed for the better. The organization reaches out to community members to spread awareness to form partnerships by speaking to civic groups as well as actively seeking (and receiving) positive coverage in The Ottawa Herald.
